3.7 Inch AA Gun

aagun

Production was authorised in April 1937 and the first guns delivered in January 1938. The gun was constantly improved with the most important advance being the adoption of the Molins Fuze Setter which automatically set the fuze length and then loaded and fired the shell. Remote power control was introduced in 1944 and this along with advanced radar, predictors and proximity fuzes gave the gun a 82% sucess rate against the V1 missile. The gun was declared obsolete in 1959 when Heavy AA was replaced by missiles.

 Item 9 Menden Reunion Report

Danny reported that he had booked three Hotels and that the Reunion would be on the 18/5/2013

Because that was the week that the Fair was on and that he could not get the same venue that we had last time so it would be in the Schützenhalle in Bösperde.

Jim Baker said that that would be impossible for him to be there as it clashed with the R.A.A Meeting in Blackpool  which was on the same week-end Tony also said that he could  not attend.

Jim Baker told the floor and Danny that we always had the last week in May or the first week in June for the Reunion’s and we would keep to this as far as we could.

So Danny after a long discussion about the date rearranged it to the 25/05/2013 and that he would make the necessary arrangements when he got back home

Proposed Steve Otter Seconded Danny Taylor

 Item 10 any other business

Dougie Shepherd made a request that the club make a trip to the National Arboretum at Alrewas this was considered by the members and they asked that further details be obtained. Chris Ainsworth would look at the cost of a bus and accommodation near to the Arboretum and would report back to the committee.

Chris Ainsworth reported that he had approached his boss and then had a falling out so nothing was done about the above trip. Jim baker would check out with the arboretum and would report back at the next meeting

There being no other business the meeting closed at 11-30am
